Vintage Nursery Furnishings

Considerable progress has been made on the nursery thanks to relentless nagging from me and hard work and patience from Carter. It is painted (a gorgeous shade of jade green), baseboard has been freshened, furniture has been assembled and the light fixture is in place.

It is all coming together and I couldn't be more excited. As we start to assemble the pieces for the room, I am especially thrilled that we are using so many vintage items - many of which I have had for a long time and have not used. Very happy these items will be used in the most special room of our home.

Do you remember this vintage pagoda lantern I scored at Lucketts over two years ago?

Well I eventually spraypainted it a glossy red and hung it in one of our guest bedrooms (the room that will double as my office at some point in my life). It looked awesome in this location but once I realized that red would be a key color in the Chinoiserie nursery, it was a given that this chandy would move. I think I'll replace the candelabra bulbs with fun spherical ones to give it a more Regency look.

I also scored this fretwork table on that same trip to Lucketts:

I absolutely love this table but never found a good use for it until now. I am planning to change the color (likely to red) and will use it as the end table to accompany the nursery rocking chair. Love that it has shelves for books and other knick-knack storage.

And speaking of the nursery rocking chair...a while back I blogged about a set of chairs that I was able to pick up from the former owner of my sister's house. This little tufted rocker was the perfect chair for the nursery so I was so happy to serendipitously come across it:

Snagged it for $50 and found 8 yards of gorgeous fabric for $40 at the beach so the chair + materials was under $100 and it was exactly what I wanted for the space. I am happy to report that my favorite upholsterer Hakan of Simply Upholstery did a fantastic job recovering the chair - will share the results in a future post!

And the last two vintage pieces you have also already seen, but let's recap. You caught a glimpse of the cool swirly Regency headboard that will be used on a twin bed:

And the awesome bamboo-detailed dresser that I bought on Craigslist:

Color on the dresser is TBD but I know I want to paint the pulls to a brass tone to match the headboard.

Vintage items have so much character and I'm thrilled to put this personal collection to good use in our nursery!
