Friday Crush

Note how the leafy palms are echoed in the chandelier. Adore this bright, sunny space by our darling Meg Braff. See more of this home here...

Happy weekend...see you Monday!

Dark Tones

I love the dark tones of these spaces designed by Massucco Warner Miller for a DC-area home.

Sultry + Sophisticated. The skinny sconces and the smoky chandelier are so posh. High marks all around. Wonder where this house is around here...

Kate Gifts Herend Elephants

In my world, Kate Middleton gifts Herend elephants to her attendants.

And she wears these crystal pumps to her reception:

And sets her table with Alberto Pinto china against a Herend charger:

Clean

I like marble in a bathroom a whole, whole lot. It looks so modern and gorgeous...all sparkly and fresh and whatnot. The epitome of clean.

Like this:

I could totally be on board with freshening up in this establishment, designed by one of my web design clients nonetheless - Virginia Kitchens. If you are local in Northern Virginia, Virginia Kitchens does some awesome kitchen/bath remodeling and renovation...check them out.

Kin Zakura

Remember my chic combo last week? Allow me to add a layer. I would dine off these dishes:

Kin Zakura by Royal Limoges. I am newly obsessed with this china pattern. So glam and shocking in its attractiveness. I want to own it so that when asked my china pattern, I can reply, "Kin Zakura."

Happy Monday.

Friday Crush

You know I love a bar. Especially on a Friday. This close-up of genius is by NYC-based Scout Designs. The black and white glasses are killer...sitting atop that tray atop that emerald Chinoiserie cabinet. Perfect arrangement.

Have a wonderful weekend. See you Monday!

A Chic Combo

Upset that I don't own this rug.

But, if I did, I would place this chair on it.

And get myself this brass lamp.

And then I'd sit back in my green, tufted velvet chair on my tribal rug sipping a drink by the light of my lamp and pat myself on the back for such a chic combo.

Sara Tuttle

The latest issue of High Gloss Magazine introduced me to DC-area designer Sara Tuttle. And I couldn't be more pleased.

To think Sara is whipping up these incredible, colorful creations in my own backyard is very exciting. Her interiors are fresh and full of personality...perfect for the young professionals that abound in our area.

I must meet Miss Tuttle.

Buck House Designer's Eye

My web meanderings recently took me to the website of Deborah Buck's New York City shop, Buck House. Filled with antiques, art and Chinoiserie, this establishment is certainly on my "must visit" list next time I'm in the city.

In the meantime, Deborah has a fantastic little portion of the site devoted to small vignettes that she puts together of the items she carries. She calls it "Designer's Eye." It's like a mini picture blog showcasing her wares. I'm not sure how often it's updated, but I scrolled through what she has up thus far and the images served up a heavy dose of inspiration.

My favorites:

You can't decide which is your favorite and you wish you could be inside Buck House this very instant. Ditto.

Hotel Monaco Alexandria

My friend Tyler is getting married in May and we had the pleasure of bachelorette partying with her on Saturday. Our first stop was the Hotel Monaco in Alexandria, which I have never been inside. Shame on me. This hotel is amazing...I love walking into an establishment (in this case, with peacock blue walls) that takes some risk with their decor.

Check out what surrounded us as we tossed back some bubbly...

A very fun evening, in some very fun surroundings. Hope your week is off to a great start!

Friday Crush

An incredibly hot wall sconce to light up your Friday. Imagine this against a black wall...maybe in a totally chic powder room? Possibilities are endless. It's not inexpensive, but if you're interested, it's 25% off at Horchow today. Have at it.

I get to spend some quality time with family this weekend...can't wait. Have a fab 48 hours...see you Monday!

Haymarket Designs

I have a new resource for incredibly attractive, preppy, awesome gifts. Hillary Ross over at Haymarket Designs has launched a line of hand-painted (by her) home accessories, and they will steal your heart. Something for every single one of us pattern-loving fools.

Check out her wares...

Frames, trays, wastebaskets...all in wonderful colors and patterns. Hillary offers each item in whatever design/color combo you'd like, which is so nice, as she has quite the array.

I'm getting myself a tissue box for the office. Click here for Haymarket's site...happy shopping!

Globe Sconces via TradHome

Image by Tim Street-Porter via tradehomemag.com

Please take a moment out of your busy schedule this morning to focus on those globe-ish sconces. I have never, ever, seen anything like them...and now I want them. I'm always on board with a brass sconce, but the spherical lights take them to a new level. I also love the symmetry of this space by Jeff Lewis, as well as the varying textures and the earthy color palette.

Yes, this is an image from TradHome that made its global debut yesterday...and let me tell you, it's good. Real good. It's a wee bit packed with info...a little hard to focus with so much goodness on each page. Check it out if you haven't done so yet...after you've admired the sconces.

Chinoiserie Outdoor Lanterns

Big C and I are going to paint the exterior of the house. I'm lobbying to pay someone else to do it (read: it will get done quickly) but Carter, bless his heart, is DIY all the way on this house. We'll see who wins.

Painting the house also means replacing our outdoor lanterns (we have two on either side of our front door) and I've had my eye on these guys...

Fantastic Chinoiserieness for my front door! These would spraypaint up marvelously as well if you needed another color. They are chic little pavilions to welcome guests and guide your way as you fumble with your keys.

Found them on Shades of Light which, by the way, is such a great catalog. Kudos to them for always having a plethora of handsome items. And it doesn't hurt that they are in my hometown of Richmond. SoL catalog day is always a happy one.

Monday Sunshine

Monday sunshine from Meg Braff. Where does one find such an amazing Chinoiserie bench? The peek of rug against this cozy sitting spot is just lovely. And the sunshine coming through the photo is what we all need this Monday morning.

Hope your week is off to a great start!
