Friday Crush

Trying to keep it positive with warmer temperatures approaching. And this is the best way I know how - with a ridiculously gorgeous spring table setting from one of my favorite Insta accounts for spectacular monograms, @shopsaddlestitches. High on my wish list? Imari china. And this salad plate with all of my favorite colors may need to be my next pattern...I'm pretty sure it's Royal Crown Derby but anyone know the pattern name? I know I have china super sleuths out there...UPDATE: It's Kyoto Garden from Royal Crown Derby.

I have been down with a (self-diagnosed) sinus infection this week. It has been the pits. Mouth-breathing is not for me. Hoping I finally kick it in time for the weekend...see you next week!

Etsy Shop: Wheaton Whaley Designs

My Etsy wanderings recently landed me at this adorable South Carolina-based shop, Wheaton Whaley. Chock full of darling pillows and monogrammed gifts.

That first pillow is the loveliest shade of cornflower blue - not easy to find. And let me tell you that with wedding season and summer entertaining underway, nothing makes a better gift than monogrammed cocktail napkins. Always well-received.

Friday Crush

Photo by Nicole LaMotte for One Kings Lane

I need more monograms in my life. Love this collection from Kim Bachmann's wonderful home featured on One Kings Lane. Check it out here - definitely worth your time this Friday.

Well, that was a busy week. How was yours? Do you feel like summer is just FLYING by like I do? Granted, I'm not one to hold on to this season so this is not necessarily a bad thing...mostly just the sensation that time is slipping by, which leaves one questioning all sorts of things. Hope your weekend is carefree, unworried about anything but family and friends. See you next week!

Friday Crush

My favorite Christmas present so far - maybe ever - is this. My monogram, hand-lettered and designed by my insanely talented friend and fellow designer Melissa Brody. There were tears when she gave it to me (die-cut on gold paper and framed) - I think it's beautiful and I can't wait to use it all over the place. The timing is perfect too - don't we all want a fresh start in the new year? Seeing my name boiled down to a simple mark like this gives me a personal boost to rev things up a bit in 2016.

Alright, the countdown is on. This weekend is about wrapping presents, watching Christmas movies and general merriment and revelry. Hope it's a fab one for you...see you next week!

Friday Crush

If you can't get enough monograms in your life, you should be following Saddle Stitches Monograms - a Kentucky-based custom monogramming and embroidery shop - on Instagram. Eye-candy galore, such as this specimen pictured above. That orange is glorious and the monogram is perfection.

Remember when I said Labor Day would be used to regroup? Didn't happen. This week has been terrible and, thus, I'm still floundering. But I'll get there. I'm going to turn my house upside down this weekend until I find the reset button so I can push it.

Hope you have a great one! See you next week!

Friday Crush

File this under "If I Was a Millionaire"...these would be my dining chairs. Complete with custom Leontine monogram. That Jane Scott is a stylish woman. How awesome would a set of these be for your Easter table? Or, I guess I could settle for just one as a desk chair. I absolutely love how the splendid monogram pops on the purple.

Pretty low-key weekend around here. Hope you're up to something fun. Enjoy it and see you next week!

Friday Crush

I couldn't choose between these two beauties for my Friday Crush...they served as THE MOST inspiring items of my week. Brought to me and you by Jane Scott Hodges' Instagram feed. I'm completely obsessed and enamored with these detailed monograms in such beautiful color combinations. Extraordinary. WANT.

I have been real sick...yuck. I'm so over it. Really hoping this weekend gets me back on my feet. Have a great, restful weekend...see you next week!

Monogrammed Lamp Shade

I'm pro-monogram. I don't know what it is about seeing my (or our) initials embroidered, painted, stenciled, what have you - it just makes me happy. And monograms in unexpected places make me even happier.

Have you thought about monogramming your lamp shades? On one of my recent trips to HomeGoods I saw a pair of very pretty black, crystal, glam lamps whose shades were a black silk with a "faux" monogram embroidered in white - by "faux" I mean that the embroidery was loopy lines that almost appeared to be letters to give you the feeling of a monogram without committing to actual letters...which was a bit odd. But it got me thinking...

Then I went on one my fave sites for all things lighting, Shades of Light, and came upon these little beauties:

You are a bit limited by the shades being white, but the monogram is available in five colors, including green, turquoise and pink. They also have two other monogram styles besides these above.

I'm particularly fond of the first option and was considering it for a pair of lamps in Tyler's dressing room...but at $60/each they are a bit pricey. Perhaps I could find a way to DIY something similar? Of course you can always stencil letters on a lamp shade, but it's a little tricky with a monogram as the letters are different sizes and especially with the circle monogram, stenciling is probably not the best route.

One idea I had was to buy some vinyl custom-made monograms via Etsy and glue those to some shades....there are many Etsy sellers making these monograms in different sizes.

I'll get back to you if I actually follow through with this idea for Tyler's room, which by the way, is coming together. Tyler and I have picked the paint color, scored some Craigslist pieces and had some fun shopping trips for accessories.  We also picked fabric this week, which pulls together the look so I'm working on a concept board to show you...stay tuned.
