Mary McDonald teamed up with Martyn Lawrence Bullard to create this dollhouse for the Kaleidoscope Ball to raise money for the UCLA Mattel Children’s Discovery and Innovation Institute.

Friday Crush

It's no surprise that I found my favorite image of the week on Chinoiserie Chic, one of my favorite daily reads. Beth at CC did a post on Mary McDonald's Chinoiserie interiors and I literally gasped when I saw this image. I want to blow it up poster size and hang it on my wall. Isn't it gorgeous? I love the colors in that vase.

We are expecting a beautiful weekend in our area so I'm excited to experience some fall weather and get some much-needed work done on the house. Hope your weekend is wonderful...see you Monday!

Friday Crush

Thank God for Mary McDonald. Seriously. Coral orange, pale aqua, chocolate brown zebra and an obelisk. My, my, my. I absolutely adore rooms that commit to a color palette where fabrics, accessories and furniture don't stray from a set array of hues...it's so sophisticated. And this is truly one of the most sophisticated spaces I've ever seen.

It's shaping up to be a great weekend - I will be toasting two dear friends for their birthdays AND Carter and I are rolling up our sleeves and finally tackling the paint job of the master bedroom (which I have seriously been avoiding and procrastinating on). I'll be thrilled if we make a dent in that task this weekend.

Peacocks and Oranges

Seriously. None.

Except that Mary McDonald is a genius. And these pictures are heavenly. And peacocks and oranges are my new favorite combination for Christmas decorating.

Mary's Trim

The December/January issue of House Beautiful profiles a perfectly amazing home designed by Mary McDonald.

I have not gushed over Ms. McDonald on this blog yet. But I will, don't you worry.

In the meantime, I'll gloss over how much I adore her work, and go right to the Greek-key-trimmed bolster pillows she used in this home. They totally caught my eye...and I can't stop thinking about them.

I snagged this pictures from Mary's online design portfolio, as the images from HB aren't up on their site yet:

If you recall my dining room designBoard, I am using a black/white Greek key trim just like the one on the bolster above...and I love how it's used on this pillow. The contrast with the yellow is just stunning.

I have some beautiful lavender moire fabric that would look great with this trim...and these pictures have inspired me to perhaps bring a bolster or two into my dining room (perhaps on my armchairs).

Here's a sneak peek of my current use of the trim on my drapes...it's only a teaser...the big reveal is yet to come...
