A Reimagined Bar Cart

I spotted this awesome, awesome bar cart on Pinterest:

Anyone recognize the image? I couldn't hunt down the original source...

Anyway, I'm CRAZY for the khaki walls paired with a yellow lamp and a black and white rug. Such a gorgeous, unique combination. And pretty quickly, my mind started recreating this look in the product catalog that is my brain.

I've been crushing on this amazing vintage Chinoiserie lamp on Etsy. Would be gorgeous as a stand-alone lamp on a bar cart:

And I actually own a very similar rug to the one in the photo. It's the Sierra Paddle rug from rugsusa.com:

And of course we all love a good Audubon print:

Hmmm...and what if we put our bar cart against Schumacher's Shantung Silhouette wallpaper instead?

That's some gorgeous stuff, y'all. Lucite bar carts are a little harder to hunt down but any bar cart would do...and just zhush it up with some accessories to make the look your own.

Divine Bar from Phoebe Howard

A divine bar from Phoebe Howard...

This photo mixes so many of my favorite things! Chinoiserie, Phoebe Howard, Southern Living, booze....it's music to my eyes. Let's note some items:

1) The color scheme of aqua + tobacco punctuated by white is gorgeous

2) I always love mixing in a bit of rattan or natural fibers...the ice bucket is a great choice here for color and texture and I love it on the silver tray

3) Note that this bar is a great idea for an impromptu set-up...if you don't have space for a permanent bar, just get yourself a large silver tray and keep it handy for entertaining. Then you can set this up anywhere for your party.

I would like to be a bar stylist if my web design career doesn't work out. I'm obsessed with bar vignettes and how gorgeous they can be...which probably comes from my love of entertaining. And now that we're ramping up the holiday season, I have this urge to throw fancy parties and redecorate the house...and then I come back to reality. A great reality that we're in baby mode, not party mode, but still...I can have the urge.

Handsome Wooden Bar Cart

We LOVE our bar carts, don't we? And as much as I worship the candy-colored or metallic options available, sometimes you need something a little more elevated. Which is why I'm completely enamored with this little cart:

It still has the Chinoiserie and fretwork details, but the wood makes it very sophisticated. And it has a diminutive footprint, so you really could tuck it anywhere. I think this particular cart is perfect for a library or study...or perhaps a man's office.

Friday Crush

Since I started this blog, some of the images I am most obsessed with are of bars. I just can't get enough. And this one belongs to Jennifer Boles and happens to be the exact same bar cart that we have in our dining room - I love how Jennifer has arranged hers here.

I have never thought to hang a tea towel on the edge like so. I always want to buy beautiful little towels, but have no clue where to put them where they can function in a mostly decorative fashion...this is the perfect spot. I am thrilled at this discovery.

A Floating Chinoiserie Bar

I had a mini breakdown and my stress level elevated as I tried picking my favorite set of images from the latest issue of Lonny for today's post. The issue is amazing. And that is an understatement. If you love turquoise, you'll love this issue.

Feeling overwhelmed, I will just share this chic idea from the home of Angele Parlange. A floating Chinoiserie bar:

We know I'm obsessed with bars, and this has to be one of my favorites. Perfect for a small room where floor space might be tight, but wall space abounds. And the Chinoiserie flair completes it. Bar accessories, a cool mirror or artwork and some treats for guests to munch on as they walk by - noting this for future use.

The new issue of Lonny is out today. Seems like I'm always an issue behind, but I love every moment of every page. Get it while it's hot.

Carter is running a marathon this weekend. As in 26.2 miles of non-stop motion. With sweat. And pain. I can't fathom it. And he can't fathom spending 6 hours in a fabric store. And to be honest, by the time I'm done with a fabric run, I have likely traversed 26.2 miles myself. With sweat. And delight.

I will be cheering him on as he completes this feat of strength this weekend! Hope you all have wonderful weekends...see you Monday!

Do you remember this oldie but goodie dining room from defunct Cottage Living? It was always one of my favorites...I love the artwork, the use of pink and the striae treatment the homeowner, Janet Gregg, accomplished by dragging cardboard along a paint/glaze mixture on her walls. Genius, inexpensive and custom. She extended the look into her entryway, and that bar is wonderful - simple and oh so inviting as guests walk through the door. Nice work Ms. Gregg.
