Friday Crush

A delightful vignette from Lucas/Eilers Design via Twitter from a home on Kiawah Island featuring Acanthus Stripe wallpaper from Celerie Kemble for Schumacher. Where would you begin here? I'm at a bit of a loss...the wallpaper is incredibly fantastic but can we talk about the patterned floor? And all of the rich wood tones? And of course the beautiful pottery that looks absolutely perfect here. I would be quite pleased if this was the entry of my lowcountry home.

Fall is in full swing and we might attempt a pumpkin patch this weekend. Hope you have a great one...see you next week!

Saturated Blue + Golden Khaki

I recently pinned two consecutive images and did not realize until after how similar they are in color scheme. Both fuse beautiful, saturated cobalt tones of blue with warm, golden tones of khaki to create stunning spaces.

The first is from one of my favorites, Celerie Kemble - an upper west side NYC living room that Kemble Interiors posted on Twitter:

LOOK at those marbled columns...I would say that in most cases, were I to confront those columns in person, I would dislike them. But in this room they are just spectacular. I wonder if they were created as part of the room or if they already existed and the room needed to work around them? Either way they create a gorgeous symmetrical focal point...and the symmetry continues with the face-to-face (velvet?) caramel couches and golden wishbone chairs. Lovely, comfortable and very luxe.

The second is a dining room by Michael Carter that I spotted on The Foo Dog Ate My Homework:

This is how khaki walls should be used! Is that Schumacher's Nanjing on the curtains? I can't tell but of course I'm all over those bamboo blinds too. I love a round dining table, and this one is beautifully scaled to work with those peacock (velvet?) chairs. I thought the lantern was my dear Portola by Troy, but it's a similar, sleeker version that still has all of the whimsical appeal that I love. I also like the milky whites used throughout.

Stunning! Do you have a favorite?

Luxury by Celerie Kemble

Let's take a moment and enjoy the complete and utter luxury of this space for the Kips Bay Showhouse by Celerie Kemble. Usually ultra glam/luxury rooms are a little too much for me, but this room I can get right on board with. I think the paneling keeps everything very warm and inviting as do the pops of pink and yellow. Nothing seems too cold and everything is dripping with pretty. And the layers and textures of the space, as well as the dimension created by so many things coming off the walls is literally a feast for the eyes.

I caught this image on Dering Hall, a website where designers come to sell their uber-chic wares to the public.  You too can create this space at home with some of the key furniture pieces shown here...keep in mind I did say LUXURY in this title.

Do you like the quirky pink settee in the background?

Or that awesome malachite chair?

Or maybe you like the classic club chairs.

Definitely out of my budget, but incredibly fun to look at and the inspiration is free!

Friday Crush

image via fschumacher.com

An ad by Schumacher for Celerie Kemble's fabric line. Orange and turquoise, need I say more? Celerie's book (in this picture nestled among the gorgeous fabric) is also currently on my nightstand and I am enjoying it immensely.

Our weekend plans have us wine-tasting on Halloween. Our dear friends are moving and we shall toast their departure with Virginia wines. Not a bad way to go...

I'm also trying to convince Carter that we should take a drive and see some Fall color on Sunday...we'll see if house projects take over, or if we sneak away.

Weekend design adventures MUST be emailed to me.

See you Monday.
