Pagoda Patio Purchase

I didn't think I would ever see this day, but it has arrived.

We have purchased a pagoda-shaped umbrella for our patio. I think I caught Carter in a weak moment.

Have I blogged about this umbrella before? I can't remember - it's from Pier 1 and I have coveted it for a long time. We went with Spice to accent our brick patio:

But if our patio had different colors, I would have gotten the Marine Blue:

There is also green, turquoise and some patterns...so many to choose from!

Of course we pulled the trigger a couple of weeks before Labor Day so we paid more than we should have, but I wasn't about to mess with Carter agreeing to buy one to wait out a sale.

But you can get a FANTASTIC deal on these guys as they are only $70 at the moment. That's crazy.

See them all here...

Etsy Shop Indigo Home

I just came across the most delightful Etsy shop based out of Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia called Indigo Home.

The owner creates monogrammed eggs....I didn't know these were a thing. Where has my monogrammed egg been all my life?

Perched on a girly vanity, these eggs are simply precious (Mother's Day gift alert). The shop specializes in custom watercolor and pen/ink illustrated gifts and I'm happy to report many of her items have a solid Chinoiserie flair.

Like these pagodas for your pets! Bowls and a treat canister...so cute:

The shop has Christmas ornaments, stationary and other sweet items...and I'm sure she creates lovely custom items by request. Check everything out here...

Shout out to Virginia talent!

Friday Crush

Yowza! This is magnificent. Maybe not for my house...unless I lived in a crazy mansion...but PERFECT for what looks like a hotel. I found this guy on Pinterest and it credits Hotel Monaco but I'm unsure of which location it is. Anyone know? And look at those floor lamps. They are table lamps but in floor size! Brilliant. But back to the pagoda...wow. And against that red wall. Stunning.

Ya'll, I have been sick FOREVER. I'm going on two weeks and I need to shake this. And it doesn't help that one day it's 2 degrees and then this weekend it will be 60. Seriously? I have lots to do in 2014 and I'd like to get to it. Have a fab weekend. See you next week!

Pagoda Statue via Etsy

Want to recreate this amazing glittery, glamorous dining room by Andrew Raquet?

One accessory that can help is a fabulous pagoda statue, and this vintage number on Etsy fits the bill perfectly. I love how delicately ornate it is...

Granted, it's not 4 feet tall, but at 19 inches, it's not small and could make a lovely impact!

Miles Redd Bed

My tour of "this-is-what-caught-my-eye-in-those-magazines-this-weekend" continues...

This pagoda bed in a Chinoiserie bedroom by Miles Redd is sensational. Truly sensational.

Photo by William Waldron via elledecor.com

What strikes me most about this room is the arrangement of this majestic bed against a small-ish wall. I think most would aim to put this bed against a large expanse of wall due to its proportions.  But I think this placement adds to its richness and scale. That's a trick I like to use in our house - putting large pieces in smaller spaces...it adds to the drama.

I also love this room because it's by Miles Redd. Do you have a designer who you feel has the midas touch? Just about everything they do is fantastic in your book? I have a short list, and MR is certainly on it.

Friday Crush

Photo by Mikkel Vang via housebeautiful.com

My love affair with pagoda silhouettes continues - this time in the form of a pelmet box. I simply must do this somewhere in my home. I also applaud the combination of red and yellow - it works; especially with a touch of turquoise which brings it all together as turquoise is simply magical paired with red and paired with yellow. And don't think I didn't notice the cockatoos - extra credit.

A full list of projects awaits me this weekend (as usual)...we were gone two weekends in a row, so I need to make some progress this weekend (did I tell you I've given myself an October deadline for finishing up "Phase I" of this house?)

Hope your weekend is fantastic...see you Monday!

Beach Shopping

I have to admit, one of my favorite parts of being at the beach in South Carolina is thrift store shopping (sprinkled with some upscale home shopping). The past couple of years, I have found some terrific items, although most of them stay at the store. Even so, it's very fun to look!

In case you are interested, these shops are located in the Murrells Inlet/Litchfield/Pawleys Island area of South Carolina - all off of Hwy 17.

Here are some treats I came across last week. First up were some thrift shops, and I came across this zebra lamp:

His red eye was kind of creepy, but of course he screamed "Scalamandre wallpaper!" like this room:

Design by Massucco, Warner, Miller

This wheat-themed fire screen would actually be perfect for our living room, but I thought it might be a bit matchy-matchy with our wheat sconces. Even so, I loved it.

One shop had a whole Chinoiserie section with vases, furniture and paintings. Here were my favorites - I desperately wanted that pagoda painting!

Another thrift shop had this awesome armoire below. 'Twas a bit 80s, but I LOVED the hardware and overall shape. Could look very cool painted or left as is. Definitely thought about this one too but a) nowhere to put it and b) couldn't haul it back to Virginia amidst our beach stuff. Someone will get lucky with this one...

I also found a pair of twin bamboo headboards for $150 for both, which was a total steal. Carter and I actually conversed about them, but buying them would be ridiculous because I literally have no use for twin headboards and I don't think we want to store them for umpteen years until we have a child's bedroom....but oh, did I want them. I thought I had taken a picture of them (actually, I know I did), but I can't find it on my phone camera.

Moving on....I also love hitting up some upscale shops while I'm there. Three in particular - Waccamaw Interiors, Eleanor Pitts, and Sea Wife. I didn't take any pix in Sea Wife this year, but if you love non-kitschy nautical decor, this shop is for you! Check out their Facebook page.

These below were my favorites at Waccamaw Interiors - lots of Chinoiserie!

Excuse the glare in my photography, but the above flamingo print (which had me swooning) reminds me of the one we just saw in Bunny Williams' island home in the latest issue of Lonny.

Here are some shots from Eleanor Pitts, a GORGEOUS jewelry and home decor shop filled with beautiful china patterns, Herend figurines, linens, serving pieces...a girl's dream come true. Here were some of the shots I took (I was trying to be discreet in this very nice shop, so I didn't snap many pix).

Don't you love these painted Chinoiserie steps below? They have always been a favorite of mine:

This set of bone boxes and this bamboo dining set were on my list of wants:

As you can see, many things caught my eye this beach trip (as is always the case). Thanks for taking a virtual shopping trip with me!

A guy walks into a bar...

BAM. How's that for a Monday morning?

This AMAZING (amazing!) Chinoiserie bar can be found at the Artesian Bar of the Langham Hotel in London.

The bar was designed by David Collins Studio.

It's a masterpiece!!!! If I ever go to London...

Friday Crush

Image via veranda.com; Photo by Peter Vitale

Holy pagoda, this room is amazing. Michelle Nussbaumer's "master suite hall" from a Veranda showhouse in California. One day, I shall have a room with pagoda silhouettes painted on the walls...I shall, I shall. I love the color scheme of this room too - swanky and elegant.

I adore four-day work weeks! Looking forward to a nice weekend...hope you have something fun planned for yourself. See you Monday!

Pagoda Punch

I love the pagoda as a motif (as if that were a surprise). I love pagoda-shaped objects, pagoda-printed fabric, pagoda-inspired tableware - I'll take it all. I try to keep the actual pagodas I bring home to a respectable number so as to not turn the house into a total pagoda-fest, but I'm always looking for pagoda decor for the fun of it.

I've had a little list going of current items that I love from around the web that I thought you might enjoy if you like a pagoda sprinkled here or there like I do...

If you liked my Lucketts pagoda/bamboo chandy, I found the exact same chandelier recently on Etsy, and although it's not my steal of $65, I think it is a great price at $199 - very affordable for a unique light fixture that is just calling for spray paint or leave as is!

Or perhaps you'd like your pagoda in a fabric. This Thibaut fabric is in the prettiest colorway and I love its varying pagodas - perfect for curtains, pillows, a headboard - you name it!

Or what about this statement pagoda birdcage? I could see this perched in a sunroom...or perhaps given a coat of high-gloss paint for a spunky accent piece. And if you happen to be getting married, this would make the perfect card catcher on your gift table, which would then turn into a wonderful keepsake.

And last but not least, I came across this super-chic find for your backyard via the Stylebeat blog. I'm actually considering this pagoda purchase...we are on the verge of finally working on the outside of our house and I am SOOOO tempted to purchase this umbrella for our deck...it's perfection. I like the green, but also wish it came in other colors! I don't think you can get this online, but check out your local Pier 1.
