designBoard: Kimber's Dining Room (Two Ways)

Kimber and I are BFF. It started with the designBoard I did for her bedroom. We then moved on to the family room and now, here's the dining room.

Below is the board (two ways) I put together for Kimber & family's dining room, complete with one of those great silk screens I posted about:

Our starting point was fabric that Kimber had - Robert Allen Vintage Plumes in Jade:

Kimber is a Chinoiserie lover, so we kept the elements true to her style while working in some gorgeous color. Don't you love her china pattern (Old Avesbury by Royal Crown Derby)? I think Kimber is well on her way to taking the ideas from this board and making them her own.

Did you notice the difference in the boards? One has a green painted sideboard from Wisteria, and the other has a more modern IKEA console. Which would you choose?

  1. What a great friend you are! I love both plans, although the second one might have won me over with the red console. I like a modern piece thrown in with all the Chinoiserie :)

  3. Definitely the modern console. What a beautiful room - I love the citrus pop of the garden stool!

  4. I think the red console looks better with all the green elements. Either way, I'd be thrilled to have that room!

I think I like the hot pink console better. The green one looks like on that is at Urban Outfitters, and although I admired it- I think I like the clean line of the IKEA piece.

  8. It's amazing how different the two boards look with just that one change. The second one is definitely my favorite!

  9. LOVE the fabric choice; DwellStudio for Robert Allen has some truly great prints. I love both mood boards though I have to say I'm really attracted to the second one in particular -- love the modern red console. It adds a more contemporary element and really ties in with the red vases.

  10. I love the pop of red and the sleek lines. However, the size of the other sideboard lends itself to more storage. I am thinking it would also look great in red. Maybe a little paint?
