Beach Finds

I am just back from a glorious week at the beach with my in-laws and it was wonderful. We had a bit of rain, but it still made for a relaxing vacation. And what is the best thing to do when it rains? Shop, obvi.

Although I only picked up a small $6 urn (and a copy of The Great Gatsby for $1), many things caught my attention. And lots of Chinoiserie!

An adorable two-headed lamp. I would replace the shades and spraypaint it. This item was heavily considered.

Mr. and Mrs. Chinoiserie figurines. Also heavily considered. (Wait, why didn't I buy these?)

The picture does not do this tea set justice. The light jade green of the porcelain with an awesome pink dragon was quite the combo.

Brass koi candlesticks.

So, I called this (in my head) the Nefertiti print. No idea if this is Nefertiti (doubtful) but how awesome would this look on a wall (in my house)? Ugghhh, so cool. Loved it.

A pair of cool palm lamps. Shade replacement advised.

This rug was pink and blue and awesome all over. I wanted it so badly. But it was a tweener size, and thus I had no good spot for it.

 Adorable elephant plate.

 This guy.

Those were my thrift finds, but I also saw some snazzy high-end items.

A Wedgewood-esque garden stool.

And this picture also does not do this piece justice, but it was orange and it had the most beautiful Chinoiserie motif and details. I left my heart with it.

If only I had endless funds and a truck to haul all of this loot back with me. But it was fun to look.

Out of curiosity, what color/finish would you spray paint the lamp? (This is Elise who still can't get her name to appear. . .)

  3. LOL..."Online Counseling" still popping up, E? I think it would depend on the room what color I'd paint it, but you can definitely not go wrong with white gloss and colorful shades. Or, for a dramatic makeover, black gloss and gold shades (maybe those lovely gold tole stripe situations).

Oh my goodness!! Were you in Pawleys Island? you had to be. As I was scrolling through everything looked familiar. Then there was the orange chest. I spent many many minutes drooling over that last saturday trying to figure out how to convince my husband that we HAD to have it. No such luck. Anyway, It looks like the chest was from Waccamaw interiors the dragon, tea set and candlesticks are probably from New to You in Murrells Inlet and that beautiful garden stool had to be from Eleanor Pitts. I promise I wasn't stalking you. I live in Pawleys and those are all my favorite places to find Chinoiserie and such. You got good taste girl! P.S. love the blog, it's a daily read and i'm super jealous of your beautiful house. I also can't figure out how to post my name. It's Jaime btw. Take care!

  5. Jaime - that is exactly where I was! You hit the nail on the head - New to You, Waccamaw Interiors, and Eleanor Pitts (my favorite). We go to Garden City Beach every year with Carter's family. Love the shopping! I also did some damage at the Joggling Board :) Thanks for the comment!
