I am mesmerized by this architectural wonder...floating-ish stairs. It's v smart. And now I'm wondering why this isn't a thing. Seems easy enough to provide enough support under stairs to create an opening below them in a house where an opening would be welcome. This passageway would work wonders for connecting the first level of an otherwise segmented home.I have a fun weekend ahead...hope you do too. See you next week!

DeleteI remember that article and I was mesmerized by those stairs too. It is brilliant. I am a big fan of "back staircases" and a front entry that doesn't open up on to a flight of stairs going up or down. My friend has stairs to the 2nd level off of her kitchen and mudroom - makes so much sense.
