Premier Prints Aruba Felix

I came across a spunky fabric by Premier Prints that I really like called Aruba Felix. I love the playful jacks-like pattern and I think the look has a Quadrille-like appeal - what do you think?

I like that this fabric seems flexible...you could dress it up by placing it in a more traditional setting giving it an upscale, modern look...or you could make it really fun in a playroom or casual family setting. And I obvi love the orange.

Girly Things

Via me on Instagram - dmshuffler

It's a girl :)

Which I already knew...since finding out I was pregnant, Carter and I both had a feeling it was a girl so we were thrilled to find out we were right! I am so ready to amp up the girly factor in our soon-to-be family of three.

Do you recognize the fabric behind those adorable booties?

It's Brunschwig & Fils' Gillian's Zebra...I scored a large sample of the fabric that I think will be a pillow for little Miss Shuffler's nursery.

I am beyond psyched to be putting together a magical, feminine nursery for my daughter...most definitely the best design project I've ever worked on. Stay tuned for the girly details...

p.s. Thank you so much for all the well wishes...you guys are real nice :)

Friday Crush

Design by Anne Hepfer, Photo by Virginia Macdonald, for House & Home

Periwinkle is completely underrated - I don't see it enough. It's the perfect mix of french blue with a touch of lavender and I always love when it's used to decorate a space. The light fixture in this kitchen is a total showstopper. What a fantastic use of color as a focal point for an otherwise very white (but beautiful) kitchen. I also adore those chairs!

I am treating myself to some R+R next week so I'm taking a little break from blogging. But, I'll be back with news next Monday of whether our lil' nug is a boy or girl - so stay tuned! Have a fantastic week...see you Monday, July 29th!

More Pillowed Beds

I can't stop thinking about that bedroom I posted the other day. And it has me really itching to make some changes to our master bedroom. Our bedroom is 75% there, but it never finished coming together and parts of it feel kind of blah.

I found more pictures to fuel my crazy, this time from Phoebe Howard:

 Photos via phoebehoward.net

Phoebe is a genius when it comes to soothing neutrals and soft aquas, grays and creams. Our bedroom isn't quite this light and bright, but I adore the beds with their cozy + elegant look. And again, I'm really drawn to the collection of pillows which is totally new for me.

I'm trying to figure out how to make this happen. Our basement is taking top priority because we're almost done and then of course there's the nursery and I still haven't gotten around to finishing up my home office which is crucial to get done before baby comes.

Safavieh on HSN

Have you noticed the presence of home furnishings purveyor Safavieh more and more on your favorite shopping sites? I used to see very high-end Safavieh items here and there but now I notice that they are aiming to reach a middle market with some more affordable pieces on big box websites. And frankly, I welcome this approach because I think they have some really good-looking stuff and I love to see attainable pieces that aren't horrendously designed.

Safavieh has been on HSN for a while now and I think the selection is great. You can find some really nice pieces at some palatable prices. I also like buying from HSN because they often have free shipping on these items and you can almost always split up your payments which is helpful when you are on a budget.

The collection is pretty huge, but here are some of my recent favorites:

I know this style of chair is very popular for the dining room and this is one of the better prices I've seen on them. I also like the details on the chair frame.

I love the icy blue color and the cool shape, complete with nailhead trim.

This is definitely one of my favorite pieces. The neutral pattern is awesome and could really go in any room.

I have grown to really love the lines of this chair. I think it would work well in a playroom or as a pair of guest chairs in a hip office.

Such a classic bench - perfect for the foot of the bed. And I love the contrast piping on this one.

I'd want to see this one in person because it's not actual leather, but I think the look of it is spot-on. In fact, it might be a bit cozier than leather and I love chairs on casters.

I'm really liking the look of organic side tables and I like that this one has a modern shape yet an organic feel with the wood grain.

 Don't you love the stripes?!

A very classic chair that comes in several neutral colors. It creates the perfect background for a colorful pillow and throw blanket.

Have you shopped Safavieh? Any favorites that you own?

The Pillowed Bed

You guys, I LOVE this bedroom. I love it. Love it.

Home of Tessa from Nine & Sixteen who collaborated with Holly from Holly Mathis Interiors via Maddie G Designs

The buffalo check pillows, the (I think) Thibaut wallpaper, the monograms, the white linens, the sconces, the rustic sideboard....the amazingness just does not stop. I would LOVE a bedroom like this for our master. This is kind of what I was going for but so far it's fallen a bit flat. It's just not as soft and inviting as this room.

Yesterday I confessed that I love the look of a bumper-less crib...well today I'm confessing that I love the look of all of these pillows. I'm usually one who goes for one large accent pillow on a bed and that's it. Eleventy-billion pillows on a bed kind of stresses me out but for some reason, in this photo, I'm completely drinking the kool-aid. I love how beautiful this looks.

I may need to recreate this...

The Bumper-less Crib

I recently had an a-ha moment regarding the crib....I really like the look of a crib without a bumper! Earth-shattering stuff, I know. But as I scan pictures of nurseries that I like, most of them don't use bumpers. The realization caught me off guard.

Two things to note:

1) I love crib bumpers. I think they are really pretty and the right one adds a great touch to a crib. In fact, I found one that I love but the $300 price tag has me rethinking other options.

2) This post isn't about whether or not to use a bumper in general. I know the thought is to not use one for safety reasons, but let's just stick to aesthetics and do your research if and when you are interested in this subject.

So back to the non-bumpered look...I think why I like it is that it gives a traditional looking crib more of a modern feel. My crib is a traditional Jenny Lind style (like Bailey's in the first photo) and I think leaving the bumper off is going to give it a nice, clean look. My nursery will definitely lean traditional, but I want to offset that with some modern touches. Skipping the bumper might help.

And it always helps to skip something that will save me some cash-money.

Friday Crush

I saw this guy on Pinterest the other day and was totally WOWED by the beauty of these woven paper crafts. I wouldn't really call myself a crafter...I don't really have the patience for it. But these beauties are so incredibly lovely, they make me wish I was good at it. I would love to get my red and green on and make some awesome Christmas ornaments...you know, in all of my free time.

Have a fantastic weekend...see you Monday!

Etsy Designer Fabric Source

I have to tell you about a fantastic resource for designer fabrics that I recently came across on Etsy. Anne at The Decorators Backroom always has a revolving assortment of fabulous designer fabrics to choose from. She recently supplied me with an awesome fabric that I think is heading for the nursery...to be revealed later :)

Check out some of Anne's amazing loot:

Make sure you check out the shop...Anne offers fabrics at a great discount so these designer fabrics are quite affordable. And her inventory changes often, so keep your eye on it to score something great like I did.

Bold Toiles

Tell me this fabric would not be AMAZING against some light pink walls!

And let's throw in a rich peacock blue velvet sofa with a mint green armchair and a jute rug with some awesome red lamps. Done. Aren't the colors to die for on this fabric?

Or what about this fabric against pale blue walls?

Total winner.

I am much more partial to these kinds of bold toiles over their white background counterparts. I do love a traditional white/one-color toile, but these brightly colored options make me much happier. I'll be honest that the brown toile has been a contender for a girl's nursery, but I think in the end I don't want to go quite that Frenchy-sweet (though the look would be absolutely beautiful!) And yes, Frenchy-sweet is a new design style.

Bright Beautiful Bridal Luncheon

I just HAD to share yet another Southern Living spread that blew my mind. Like totally and completely blew it to itty bitty pieces...check out this a-m-a-z-i-n-g bridal luncheon hosted by SL's Editor-at-Large Kimberly Schlegel Whitman for her sister:

BA. NA. NAS. Have you ever seen anything so marvelous in your entire life???

Let's be real and realize that a petite fete such as this would cost oodles upon oodles to pull off, but who cares about reality. The varying monograms on the napkins are enough for me to go mad. And the pink tablecloth with the navy blue napkin and yellow vases. It's just so much to take in...and I love very bit of it.

Y'all, Southern Living is killing it in my book. I'm seeing so much stuff that I LOVE recently...thanks to Lindsay Bierman I assume. Remember the Tea Party? The stuff dreams are made of.

Navy + Green Nursery

Isn't this a fantastic nursery?

Design by Jennifer Delonge - Image Source (thanks for the tip, commenter)

First things first - I don't know the source. Does anyone recognize it? Fill me in.

You can tell this room has some amazing architectural details...absolutely love the woodwork on the ceiling and the windows. The color scheme is perfect and the window treatment is fabulous. The aesthetic of this nursery is a bit too modern for my own home, but I did especially love one detail - the natural floor covering.

I think our own nursery is going to go the way of very colorful fabrics, so I think a neutral base on the floor will work very well. It also helps that jute and sisal rugs are usually sold at an affordable price point, though they aren't the softest on baby's hands and knees. Though our nursery is pretty large, the actual crawl around area will likely be limited to a 5'-ish sqaure in the center of the room and I like how this space uses a floor blanket perfect for a spot like this. I'm filing that idea away.

Hope you had a lovely weekend!

Friday Crush

Been a while since I've cooed over a fantastic table vignette - this one by Schuyler Samperton is so beautiful! Pink peonies are my absolute favorite...they bring any scene to life. But what I like about this vignette is that it seems very elegant and proper yet totally quirky. I hope that's what my style is like. Love that little bird as the focal point.

Is it crazy hot where you are? I am SO not a summer person...give me fall so I can get back into my boots and I'll be a happy girl. Hope you stay cool and have a great weekend...see you Monday!

Decorative Carpets on OKL

Have you checked out the Decorative Carpets sale going on right now over on One Kings Lane? These small accent rugs are like art prints! Couldn't you imagine one printed up on paper and hung in a lovely frame? They are fabulous!

The selection is HUGE and these rugs would make the perfect little accent in a room - lots of personality.

The sale ends soon, but if you are still interested check out the Decorative Carpets website - lots of eye candy. Including this example:

Where can I get that coffee table?! And those dining chairs! And that lamp is as tall as me!

Foo's Gold on Etsy

I found a great Etsy shop recently that specializes in vintage Chinese ceramics...it's cleverly called Foo's Gold. Although the shop seems to have a small selection, I love just about everything they offer:

Any of these pieces would add a great, colorful touch of Chinoiserie to your home!
